Viola

The viola looks like a larger violin, but that extra size makes all the difference. It has a rich, warm sound that really sings. Not enough people play the viola, so if this is your instrument, you’ll always be in demand! You don’t get so many tunes to play, but you sit in the middle of the orchestra, helping to hold it all together. Better suited to quieter, thoughtful musicians who don’t feel the need to show off! Lots of people start on the violin, then move to viola when they find it suits their personality.

We teach the viola in schools across the borough and at Newham Music Academy, our after-school and Saturday music centre. To enquire about lessons please email info@newham-music.org.uk or call us on 020 3598 6260.
