  • West Ham United Academy of Sound
  • 1 The West Ham Academy of sound project was set up in 2006 to scout the local borough for new producers, singers and MCs. This was done in an 'X-Factor' style audition where over 100 young people attened the West Ham United football ground where all the singers and MC's performed an audition piece for a pannel of judges made up of music professionals and music lovers the producers were asked to bring in their tracks and had a short interview to see if they had what it takes for a place; only 30 places were up for grabs, 10 in each catagory.

After the auditions the successful candidates were allocated workshop sessions to develop their talent and then combine an MC, singer and producer to create an original piece of music. After this the best 3 artists were given a chance to perform at the Newham Mayors' Show 2006.
