Feeling Music was created as a project for Deaf and partially hearing children and young people in 2014 with support from Music and the Deaf, the LSO, Barbican Drum Works, and local schools. Since it’s inception we have opened the sessions to children with any additional needs including ASD, special educational needs, and learning difficulties, providing interactive and inclusive music making opportunities for all abilities. Our specially trained teachers aim to develop each students’ musical skills with the goal of eventually integrating them into mainstream orchestras and ensembles.
The Feeling Music sessions at Newham Music Academy give pupils the chance to try out different instruments, experiment with music technology and to meet other music makers from across the borough.
