A new orchestra for young Londoners

Are you 16 – 25, grade 8 plus and want to play with a professional conductor at some of London’s most exciting venues? Then we want to hear from you!

Newham Philharmonic is a brand new orchestra for young Londoners and those further-afield.

Under the baton of Matthew Scott Rogers (Royal Ballet) Newham Philharmonic made their world debut in April 2016 at Barbican Centre and Lister School with a performance of Brahms’ Symphony No. 1.

For their Autumn course, Newham Philharmonic will perform Beethoven Symphony no. 6 at Lister Community School and at Kings Place on the 28 and 29 October 2016 resepectively.

Applicant requirements

  • 16-25 years old

  • Play one of the following orchestral instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Timpani.

  • Grade 8 standard or above. You may apply if you have not passed the exam, but your instrumental teacher will have to provide a reference stating that you are of that standard.

Fees

  • Membership of the orchestra is free of charge.

Dates

  • Deadline for applications is 14 September, we are currently only looking for string players

  • Rehearsals: 26, 27, 28 October 2016 Lister Community School

  • Performances: 3.30pm, 28 October 2016 at Lister Community School and 7.30pm, 29 October 2016 at Kings Place.
