Studio Sessions

Join Newham Music’s Young Producers for our free Studio Sessions!

Studio Sessions are for 12-16 year olds who want to make original music and gain skills in music production. In our weekly workshops, you can learn recording and mixing techniques from industry professionals, meet other young people, use Newham Music’s equipment and recording booth, and produce your own tracks.

Each session will have a different focus and take place at Newham Music’s new venue in Westfield Stratford City.

Wednesdays, 4.30-6pm: for girls, young women and non binary people – no experience of music production necessary.

Wednesdays, 6-7.30pm: open session for beginners who would like to learn the basics of music production.

Thursdays, 4.30-6pm: focus on lyric writing

Thursdays, 6-7.30pm: intermediate level – develop your existing skills in music production

Term Dates: 24 January – 8 February and 21 February – 28 March

Equipment – You can bring your own laptop and headphones, or borrow Newham Music’s equipment. Studio Sessions participants use award-winning online software, Charanga VIP, to record, mix, and produce their own original beats and tracks. No previous recording experience is necessary and you can access the software at home to keep working on your tracks every day.

Schools – Want to support your young musicians to produce their own music? We can provide online Studio Sessions for your pupils using our online resource, Charanga VIP, whether they are in school or learning from home. Charanga VIP’s allows young people to work from any location, home or school, encouraging engagement.

We also offer bespoke Arts Award lesson plans using beat-making in several contemporary music genres on Charanga VIP. Get in touch with us on info@newham-music.org.uk to discuss a bespoke music production offer for your pupils.
